How to determine if the smbusdh.sys file should be replaced

1. Click Start, select Settings, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
   
4. Click the + sign next to System Management Bus controllers.
5. Right-click IBM - SMB Device Hub, then click Properties.
6. Click the Driver tab, then click Driver Details. The location of the smbusdh.sys file will be displayed, either C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\smbusdh.sys or C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\smbusdh.sys, as well as the file version. If the version is less than 6.3.0.02, the file should be replaced.

Solution

1. Download the new smbusdh.sys file.
2. Replace the current faulty driver located at either C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\smbusdh.sys or C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\smbusdh.sys.
3. Reboot the system.
